The ANHS Varsity lost a tough game in overtime (58-57) at Elsinore High School on Thursday evening (1/3/13).  After falling behind early in the game (by 15 points) and being down by 10 points at the end of the first half, the Wolverines rallied to close the deficit to 1 point at the end of the third quarter.  The fourth quarter went back and forth with ANHS holding a slight lead until Elsinore scored off of two Wolverine turnovers to tie the game at the end of regulation.  Elsinore jumped to a lead of 6 points with a minute to go in overtime, but ANHS fought back and had 2 shots to win the game that missed at the buzzer.  The Wolverines take a wonderful non-league record of 14-4 into the beginning of what will be an exciting and difficult round of South Coast League play next week.  ANHS opens SCL play at Mission Viejo High School on Wednesday (1/9) at 7 pm, and hosts Capistrano Valley High School in the SCL home opener on Friday (1/11) at 7 pm.  Please come out to see the Wolverines compete in one of the toughest leagues in the state this coming week!!
