The Aliso Niguel Boys Varsity basketball team lost its final three games of the regular season last week, and were denied a CIF wild card berth by the playoff committee. After getting beat on the road at El Toro (67-55) on Tuesday (2/11), the Wolverines traveled to Dana Hills on Thursday (2/13). After outplaying the Dolphins for most of the game, ANHS could not finish the game in the end and lost a tough one (40-36). This left the team in a tie for third place in the South Coast League and forced to play in a tie-breaker game the following day (2/14) at Capo Valley against the Cougars. Again, the Wolverines jumped out ahead and played a great first half only to not be able to finish the game in the end (52-49). Both of the last two games showcased exciting efforts by the Wolverines and also missed opportunities that proved costly in leading to ANHS losing the leads in both games and ultimately their CIF playoff chances as well. |
